Zebra Spitting Cobra

Naja nigricincta

This species is native to Southern Africa, including in the countries of Angola, Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. It is mainly active at night but can be seen out in the mornings and evenings. Known for its unique zebra-like vertical stripes. Flattens its head into a hood like other cobra species, and is highly venomous, able to spit its venom as well as inject.

Diet:
Reptiles, amphibians, fish, eggs, small mammals and even insects
Speed:
Fast moving snake as is active predator - perhaps up to 10 km/hr
Habitat:
Acacia dominated shrublands and arid rocky areas
Superpower:
Spits its venom up to 6 feet directly at the eyes of a predator, causing temporary blindness
