
Meerkats
Suricata suricatta
Is a small mongoose that is highly social living in mobs of up to 30 individuals. Their home range is 5 square km. They live in a burrow systems which are cooler than the outside temperatures of the Kalahari desert where they live. They have specialised forclaws that are used for digging these burrows and for also digging up food such as beetle larvae.
